While everyone is excited about the 2018 World Cup

While everyone is all excited about the 2018 World Cup, we’ve got to deal with the small matter of Real Madrid vs. Liverpool in the Champions League Final. Or rather, we’ve dealt with it. Real Madrid won yet another tittle with Zinedine Zidane becoming the first coach to win three straight champions league titles.

Gareth Bale score twice including an incredible overhead kick after coming off the bench as Real Madrid defeated Liverpool 3-1 in the Champions League final played in Kiev. Karim Benzema had put Madrid ahead in the 51st minute through a bizarre goal before Liverpool, who lost their leading scorer Mohammed Salah to injury in the first half, replied through Sadio Mane.

Who said starting on the bench is a bad thing? Bale who replaced Isco on the hour connected with an acrobatic effort to put Real Madrid back in front. The Welshman sealed a record 13th European tittle for the Spanish side with the seven minutes to play as dreadful mistake by Karius allowed his long range effort to find the net. Were it not for the pitch invader, Cristiano Ronaldo might have gotten his name on the score sheet too.

Poor Karius, who had an absolute mare of a night, was absolutely distraught. With the World Cup just around the corner, all eyes will be on the recovery of Mohammed Salah who took a rough tumble and had to be taken off in the first half.
