Orlando City were the favorite to win under this tough weather conditions, however Los Angeles Football Club refused to go down without a fight.
Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) were the first to see the back of the net at the 60th minute, when Wright Philips tapped in a cross from Diego Rossi who had just collected the ball from Orlando's defender just outside the 18 box, giving LAFC an early 1-0 lead.
A few more opportunities presented themselves for LAFC but none were converted to add to the lead especially a 1v1 between Diego Rossi and Orlando City's goalie Pedro Gallese 2 min after Philips goal, but the goalie was quick to deny Rossi.
LAFC's MLS is Back tournament came to a tough halt when their former player João Moutinho converted a last minute cross to tie the match and send the teams to penalties.
LAFC came short with 4-5 goals after Jordan Harvey fired his attempt to the crossbar giving Orlando City an advantage in the dying moments.
Nani was able to redeem himself in the end by netting his penalty kick and sending LAFC packing.

Orlando City is yet to know who the next opponent is but in the meantime, they were left celebrating the win.
