The cross town rivals had a match worth the fireworks in a thrilling 3-3 tie at the Banc of California Stadium on Saturday August 28th 2021.

Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) came down from a 20th minute opener that saw Galaxy’s Dejan Joveljic chip the ball over LAFC's Tomas Romero to get his first goal and give an early lead to LA Galaxy.
Cristian Arango converted a penalty after being fouled inside the box at the 43rd minute. He got his first goal for the club ending the first half in a 1-1 tie.

Julian Araujo had a great match himself, his presence was felt in the defense as well as contributing to a goal by Cabral at the 86th minute. Julian Araujo now leads LA Galaxy with 6 assists on goals.

Another player that stole the spotlight was Brian Rodriguez. He managed to bag two goals and got named LAFC man of the match. His first goal was the stunner! He went through 3 defenders and powered a shot past Jonathan Bond and into the net!
Both teams came back in the second half to outshine the other; and with the additional goals and impressive performance, they did not disappoint.
LA Galaxy were the first to concede a goal at the 58th minute. Brian Rodriguez got the opportunity to show how dangerous he could be with his magical feet. He glid past the defense to give LAFC a lead at the early moments of second half.
LA Galaxy's response was very quick and it drove tension across the field. Dejan Joveljic made his second goal for both game and himself with an assist from Julian Araujo.
The goal only lasted two minutes before the fired up Brian Rodriguez responded with his second goal to give LAFC a lead again.
The substitution of Efrain Alvarez did light up LA Galaxy's game in the dying minutes, his contribution was felt - his passes and creating opportunity for Kevin Cabral to end the game in a tie.
