LAFC bounces back with a 3-1 win against Kansas

The Los Angeles Football Club bounced back from a 1-0 down, to defeat Sporting Kansas City 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at Banc of California Stadium with goals from Cristian Arango, Ismael Tajouri-Shradi and Jose Cifuentes. The win sets LAFC on top of the Western Conference with 16 points (5 wins 1 tie and 1 loss).

Sporting Kansas City opened the goal scoring from Palacios’ deflections trying to defend Johnny Russell but that did not end well for him. Throughout the game Palacios seemed to have been having a tough game with his touches.

LAFC was able to respond, a minute before half time when Chicho Arango converted Mamadou Fall's header into an equalizer for LAFC to end the first half in a 1-1 tie.

Unfortunately, we've started games slowly this year.

Despite the slow start, LAFC were able to turn things around and make it difficult for Kansas City in the second half.

The introduction of Super-subs; Jose Cifuente and Ismael Tajouri-Shradiwas made it even worse for the visiting team.

Ismael was the first to make an impact with a powerful volley giving LAFC a 2-1 lead. His presence was felt by SKC the rest of the game.

Cifuentes also found the back of the net about 8 minutes after, sealing the win for LAFC.

Coach Cherundolo addressing the media after the game pointed out the team's slow start in their recent games and the effective locker room talks during the halftime breaks.

"They know how to defend," he continued " and they know how to do things right, and they know how to win games. Sometimes they just need a little reminder from us at half. For some reason we've been a slow starting team, but we’ve finished off very strong in every game."

LAFC will be facing OCSC in the US Open Cup on Wednesday 4/19/22, 730pm at the Banc of California.
