LA Galaxy kicked off the match with a red card to Derrick Williams just one minute in, to mark the end of a scoreless first half.
Talking to the press after the match, coach Greg mentioned that he felt they were likely not to loose the game as per the first half. However, from the look of things, it seemed like the red card affected the team hard.
LA Galaxy came in second half - one man down - with the idea of protecting the goal, but only survived two minutes.
Felipe Mora ended up floating two headers a few minutes of each other. He floated the first header from a José Van Rankin cross into the penalty box. His second goal was a quick reaction to a crossbar renounce, which he headed past Jonathan B, LA Galaxy goalie.
The final nail was a penalty that Diego Valeri converted to give Portland Timbers a 3-0 win.
LA Galaxy are currently ranked 3rd in the Western Conference. They will face San Jose on Saturday at Dignity Health Sport at 4pm.
