Sounders outplayed LA Galaxy on Sunday May 2nd 2021 denying them a third straight win in the 2021 MLS opener.
The Sounders who were very determined to put breaks on Chicharito managed to salvage 2 goals in the first half.
Twenty minutes into the game, Raúl Ruidíaz broke the ice! He managed to pace himself in the penalty area, crating space for the cross from Brad Smith, that he easily volleyed in to the net giving Sounders an early 1-0 lead.
Three minutes later Brad Smith netted a rebound from Jonathan Bond LA Galaxy's goalie, to increase the scores to 2-0 at half time.
LA Galaxy had two main chances that they failed to convert. At the 27th minute, Samuel Grandsir had a close range shot that Stefan Frei, Sounders keeper, deflected to a corner kick.
Another LA Galaxy moment was when Chicharito's attempt went wide at the 52nd minute denying LA Galaxy a possible come back.

The LA Galaxy head Coach Greg Vanney owning up to the teams performance mentioned that his team was too exposed to the Sounders attack. "...we were too far apart from each other.." he added.
Raúl Ruidíaz got the last goal of the night at extra time to earn Sounders the 3-0 victory.
LA Galaxy will be facing their next door rivals LAFC on Saturday May 8th, 2021 at the Dignity Health Sports Park.
